Valve released the latest data of steam hardware and software surveys conducted by the company every month. The report in May 2022 showed that windows 11 continued to climb steadily and was getting closer to the 20% mark. In May, 2022, windows 11 rose from 18.94% to 19.59%, which means that almost one in five steam users will switch to the latest Microsoft operating system.
Although windows 11 sustained and healthy growth, but windows 10 is still the king, accounting for 73.89% (+0.34%). Microsoft plans to support Windows 10 at least until 2025, so windows 10 will not lose any important position soon.
The old version of windows lost some users last month, but their combined market share is still slightly higher than 3%. Overall, 96.68% (+0.37 points) of steam users prefer windows to other operating systems, Apple MacOS has 2.20% (-0.35 points), and Linux ranks third, with only 1.12% (-0.02 points).
