Screenshots of Ultimate Racing 8, allegedly running on the last-gen console Xbox One, have surfaced on the internet. The screenshots were uploaded to Reddit on Saturday and were later confirmed to be genuine by the moderators of the Reddit sub-section r/gamingleaksandrumours. As of now, Extreme Racing 8 has only been announced for the current-gen console Xbox Series S|X, although most of Microsoft's first-party games will be cross-gen and PC.
If true, it's possible that these screenshots are from a recent closed beta test held by developer Turn 10 for Extreme Racing. It's possible that the Xbox One version is just part of the beta, as Turn 10 previously claimed that their next game would bring "a huge generational leap" to the Extreme Racing series.
Last summer creative director Chris Esaki said that Turn 10 held playtests that allowed players to get a feel for how the studio was "modifying and deepening" the game's physics and core gameplay.
He said, "We've made more changes from Extreme Racing 7 to now than we did from Extreme Racing 4 to Extreme Racing 7 in order to make the mechanics work for everyone, so it's basically a huge generational leap."
