Of those surveyed, 52 per cent were men.
Regarding the racial and ethnic classification of the respondents, 71% were white, 10% Hispanic, 8% black, 7% Asian / Pacific Islander, and 3% were identified as others. Obviously, this is only local data. Considering the large number of non white players in China, Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asian countries and other regions, there should be a big gap in this proportion globally.
In contrast, the 2021 racial and demographic breakdown is 73% white, 9% Hispanic, 8% black, 6% Asian / Pacific Islander, and 2% others.
According to ESA, the average age of video game players is 33. Last year's report also pointed out that the average age of gamers was 31.
The 2022 report went on to say that 83% of investigators said they played games online or face-to-face with others.
In addition, it also shared information about respondents' game time habits. 78% played games for 3 hours or more, while 53% said they played games for more than 7 hours, and 22% said they played games for 1 to 3 hours a week.
