Last January, red hat announced its acquisition of kubernetes security startup stackrox, which has raised more than $65 million since its establishment in 2014. Through stackrox, the company obtained a complex security solution for cloud native applications, and then renamed it "red hat advanced cluster security (ACS) for kubernetes", which looks long and dull But now, the company is opening ACS: stackrox for kubernetes under a better name
Red hat explained in today's announcement: "the project aims to encourage the adoption of the devsecops principle and help solve common cloud native security challenges, including visibility, vulnerability management, configuration management, network segmentation, compliance, threat detection and event response, and risk analysis."
Through stackrox, developers will be able to establish solutions to realize the automation of devsecops, improve the security of kubernetes, and realize the application security of the whole life cycle in kubernetes. This means that developers will be able to use stackrox to provide continuous image scanning and assurance for their CI / CD pipeline, for example, to ensure that high-risk workloads do not enter production services without additional policies.
Although red hat's ACS will continue to focus on the security of its openshift container platform, the stackrox open source project will be mainly vendor neutral, although red hat plans to continue to be an active participant in the community.
