Mozilla has released another major update to its browser on the stable channel. There are no major or breakthrough feature changes, but loyal Firefox fans will welcome the return of old download tips. Firefox 101 restores the old download tips that Mozilla abandoned in january2022. Starting with firefox97, the browser automatically starts the download without first asking how to handle the file.
Many Firefox users don't like this behavior, so Mozilla decided to revert to it while maintaining the option to switch to a new version of the chromium like download experience.
Other changes to Firefox 101 include support for multiple microphones during video conferencing, and support for magnifiers in tables for Android 9 and above. In addition, Firefox now supports preferences contrast media queries, allowing websites to detect whether users require higher or lower contrast web content.
