If a list of early retailers from South Korea is credible, it seems that Microsoft will announce an updated version of its entry-level surface laptop go product in the near future. The biggest change in the surface laptop go 2 seems to be the relatively new 11th generation Intel CPU (i5-1135g7), which replaces the 10th generation model in the early 2020 generation.
Go 2 will be equipped with windows 11. The retailer page also said that its webcam will have "improved HD camera performance". Pre orders will start on June 2, so the official announcement may not be too far away.
Winfuture previously reported that the starting price of the laptop may be $650. In addition, this new laptop seems to be very similar to its predecessors. It still has a 12.4-inch display with an aspect ratio of 3:2, the same ports (usb-a, usb-c, 3.5mm headphone jack and a port for Microsoft proprietary charger), and a fingerprint sensor, which is still built into the power button of a specific model, and the backlit keyboard is still unavailable.
The retailer's list shows that it will provide 8GB of memory and 256gb of storage space, the same as last time, but it is not clear what the specification of its basic model is. The original surface laptop go started with 4gb/64gb, but a previous report from winfuture indicated that this version may start with 128GB of storage space. According to the retailer's list, the laptop go 2 is rated as 13.5 hours per charge.
Surface laptop go is considered as a low-cost product in Microsoft's surface laptop lineup, aiming to compete with the chromebook popular with students. However, we were not impressed by the original model. Its specifications and functions are limited, its performance is poor, and its price is not competitive compared with chromebook.
