Match group, a dating app developer, sued Google for monopoly on Monday, saying the move was a "last resort" to prevent its app from being expelled from the play store for refusing to pay up to 30% of its sales Match runs dating apps such as tinder and OkCupid Match said that Google violated federal and state laws and abused its power to require application developers to use its billing system on Android devices.
" ten years ago, match was a partner of Google. Now, we are its hostages," match said in a lawsuit filed with the federal court of California on Monday. "Users spend billions of dollars on Android applications every year, but Google is greedy to think that it is possible to get more money from it, so it began to monopolize the market of how users pay for Android applications."
Google has yet to comment when the company has said that developers can choose to bypass the play store, and the company has reduced costs and created other projects to solve antitrust problems.
