HP's upcoming 23.8-inch z24m display for creative professionals is equipped with a webcam, which can track users' actions and keep the image centered in video calls, much like Apple's center stage function in its studio display and some models of iPads The z24m's 5 megapixel tiltable webcam is located at the top of the display.

Users can adjust the settings of webcam to realize face tracking faster. Although you can't remove the webcam from the monitor when you don't need it, you can push it down to hide it in the field of view. Z24m also has dual noise reduction microphones and dual speakers. Simple calls do not require any additional peripherals. As for the display screen itself, the IPS panel of z24m has a resolution of 2560 x 1440, a refresh rate of 90hz, a response time of 5ms, and supports HDR.

The display also supports HP's automatic locking and wake-up functions. This function uses a built-in proximity sensor to detect when the user is in front of the screen. If this function is enabled, the display will automatically lock when people walk away and turn on when they come back.

It is unclear whether HP's webcam tracking function is the same as Apple Which performs better than the center stage, because the latter uses machine learning technology to help people (and others in the same box) stay in the center of the screen. The 27 inch studio display is equipped with iPhone A13 bionic chip of 11 to help drive the central stage function of 12 megapixel webcam, as well as other functions. However, there are some problems with the image quality of the webcam - Apple has pushed a software update to solve this problem, but it has not been completely fixed.

Z24m is scheduled to be released in July. At present, there is no price information. HP will also release the z24q for $347 this month. The specifications of the two monitors are very similar, but the latter has no video conference function. In contrast, Apple's studio display is priced at $1599.
