European truck simulation 2 is a very popular driving simulation game of SCS software company. In view of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the previously announced DLC "heart of Russia" will not be released. The company said it would avoid releasing expansion packs in the region so that it would not be considered to support or tolerate acts of aggression in any way.
Some regions of Russia have actually appeared in European truck simulation 2, but the "heart of Russia" DLC announced in March last year will open more regions of the country to its many players, including the capital Moscow. However, the situation changed dramatically three months ago.
"On February 24, 2022, our Russian heart team is about 6-8 weeks away from completing the highly anticipated work of the new DLC," SCS wrote in an article on its website. "We are all very satisfied with this result; we have invested a lot of energy in making this new area look really wonderful in the game. We absolutely believe that our community, especially the Russian community, will appreciate this."
"Then, suddenly, the whole world was shocked by the news that Ukraine was invaded by Russia. We were in shock.".
The company said that it tried to stay away from politics when developing the game, but "the heart of Russia" has a direct connection with Russia itself, and there are so many people suffering in Ukraine, so it decided to suspend the release of DLC.
SCS said that "the heart of Russia" may be released at some time in the future, "that is when the time for Ukraine to rebuild and heal comes".
On the one hand, SCS software company said that it had made contributions to charities providing humanitarian assistance to Ukraine by selling its work package DLC painted in Ukraine. So far, the DLC has been purchased by more than 85000 people.
As early as early March, EA Sports announced that it would delete all Russian teams from the National Hockey League 22 and FIFA 22. This game giant announced in December that it had cooperated with the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) to join international teams in the National Ice Hockey League 22, including the deleted Russian and Belarusian teams. At the same time, "FIFA 22" includes the Moscow Central Army, the Moscow locomotive team, the Moscow Spartak team and the Saint Petersburg Zenit team, all of which have been cancelled. Elsewhere, there have been reports that the Russian version of the Gotham Knight has been cancelled.
