Apple released a new "tap payment on iPhone" feature in February, which will allow compatible iPhones to accept payments through apple pay, contactless credit and debit cards and other digital wallets without additional hardware.
Earlier this month, apple began testing the feature at its apple orchard visitor center. Now mark gulman of Bloomberg said on twitter that starting today, the feature will be promoted to Apple stores across the United States for customers to try, but the feature may not be available in every store immediately.
Apple said the feature will be launched in the United States later this year, but the company has not shared a specific launch time frame. When checking out, the merchant only needs to prompt the customer to put his iPhone or apple watch, contactless credit card or debit card or other digital wallet close to the merchant's iPhone, and the payment will be completed safely through NFC technology.
At present, businesses that accept iPhone contactless payment must rely on additional hardware such as square reader, which has a variety of models and can work wirelessly or connect to the lightning connector or headset jack of iPhone.
