Amazon is updating its small, cheap fire 7 tablet for the first time in three years. It brings some happy features: the updated tablet will be charged with usb-c, with stronger battery life, faster machine performance and a little higher price: from $49.99 to $59.99.
Amazon said the tablet's quad core processor was "30% faster" and would have 2GB of memory instead of 1GB. The time of two charges will be extended by about 40%, and it is estimated that about 10 hours of web browsing or video viewing will be possible. The most important feature is the way to charge the battery. The previous fire 7 only supported the micro USB charging port, but this update replaced it with a more modern usb-c connection, but the charger in the box is still 5v1a.
Compared with the previous version, there is one thing missing. The new fire 7 will have only three colors - black, denim and rose - instead of the four colors of the previous model, that is, green has disappeared. This is more or less similar to the specification upgrade of fire HD 8 in 2020.
Like the previous generation, this tablet will also launch a "children's" version, which will be equipped with a reinforced shell in blue, red or purple. The child focused tablet is equipped with a one-year Amazon "kids plus" service, including access to educational programs and exclusive games. Its price has also been raised. Starting at $109.99 instead of $99.99, if you want to save a lot of content for your child's long-distance travel or flight, you can now choose to upgrade to 32GB of storage.
Both versions of fire 7 can be pre ordered today and will be shipped on June 29. If you're looking for a truly powerful tablet, you might want to look elsewhere (entry-level iPad If you're just looking for something to play videos, read books, or as a way to interact with Alexa, fire 7 should be good.
