"Watchman" is one of Activision Blizzard's $1 billion series, but the game has not been at the top of the list in the past three years. The three most important series of Activision Blizzard are "call of duty", "Legend of candy powder" and "Warcraft". The first person arena shooting game "watch pioneer" was once one of the top star products of Activision Blizzard, but six years after its launch, the game has become obsolete.
According to the recent financial report of Activision Blizzard (see the figure below), the revenue of "watch pioneer" and other series, such as "Diablo" and "Tony Hawk's professional skateboarding", has not even accounted for one tenth of the company's total revenue in the past three years. Most of the revenue of Activision Blizzard is completely dominated by the above three games, such as cod, and "watchman" is facing fierce competition.
Activision Blizzard wrote in its 2021 annual report: "for the years ended December 31, 2021, 2020 and 2019, our three top series - call of duty, candy crush legend and Warcraft accounted for 82%, 79% and 72% of our net revenue respectively. In these three years, no other series accounted for 10% or more of our net revenue."
If "watch pioneer" is less than 10% of Activision Blizzard's net income, it means that "watch pioneer" will earn less than these figures in the following three years:
2019 - $649 million
2020 - $800 million
2021 - $880 million
The background of this news is that Blizzard monthly live users have reached the lowest level since 2016, with only 22 million in the first quarter of 2022. Blizzard's revenue in the first quarter of 2022 was the lowest ever.
However, with the launch of two mobile games - "Diablo: immortality" and "Warcraft arc", as well as "watchman 2" and "Diablo 4", Blizzard's revenue is expected to hit the bottom.
