Recently, foreign media photographed a group of spy photos of Volkswagen's new test car. From the pictures, this may be the plug-in hybrid version of the new generation travel version Passat, which is reported to be released in 2023 The travel version of Passat is sold by Volkswagen imported cars in China, and the official guidance price is 264800-338800 yuan.
On this test vehicle, there are two features worth noting. The first is that there is a protruding device above the front wheel on the left side of the vehicle body, which should be the charging interface. However, since foreign media only photographed the image of one side of the vehicle, we can't judge whether this is a DC or AC charging port, but judging from the size of the device, they will certainly not be integrated on one side.
Another feature is that there is a section of trim strip in the middle of the body B-pillar with some incompatible colors and materials. If from a practical point of view, this may "imply" that the body length and wheelbase of the new travel Passat will be lengthened. Of course, it may also be just decoration.
In addition to the above two points, there is little difference between the test vehicle and the travel version Passat currently on sale. The front face is arranged in layers up and down, and there are angular polygonal headlamp groups with "four bars" air intake grille. On the side of the car body, there is a sharp through three-dimensional waist line and chrome plated trim covering the window frame.
In the power part, foreign media predict that the new car will use a 1.5tsi gasoline engine with a drive motor, and the transmission system will be a six speed DSG dual clutch gearbox. In addition, Volkswagen may start from this new car to improve the battery capacity of plug-in hybrid models. At present, all Passat PHEVs use 13kwh battery packs, and the new car will optimize the configuration in this regard, so that the pure electric endurance can reach at least 100km.
In terms of energy supplement, Volkswagen may equip this new car with a "CSS" acceleration charging function, so that this travel plug-in hybrid model can charge up to 80km in 30 minutes.
