Ethereum co-founder vitalik buterin said on twitter on Friday that he was no longer a billionaire Butlin co founded Ethereum network in 2014. As of last Friday, its cryptocurrency of the same name plunged 59% from the peak of about $4800 reached in November 2021. At the peak, Butlin's holding of Ethereum was once worth $1.5 billion.
In another tweet on Friday, Butlin said: "eventually you will make mistakes in your beliefs (especially if you are in politics, but also in other areas). Correcting this mistake means acknowledging that you have contributed negative value to the world."
He also discussed the trade-off between "open mind" and "passion" and expressed support for the Ethereum blockchain he helped create. "Note to the spurters: No, Ethereum is not a mistake," he wrote.
Butlin, a Russian born Canadian programmer, was one of several high-profile victims of a cryptocurrency crash that affected all investors.
Zhao CHANGPENG, founder of Qian'an, joked last week that he had "returned to poverty" overnight due to the collapse of the stable currency Luna, and the value of the Luna currency held by Qian'an had dropped to about $2200 from $1.6 billion a month ago.
However, Zhao CHANGPENG did not really go bankrupt. It is estimated that as of last Thursday, his net assets were about $14.8 billion. According to Forbes, most of his wealth may come from his about 70% stake in Qian'an.
