As China's first ecological nuclear power demonstration project, Guangdong taipingling nuclear power project of CGNPC has made the latest progress recently. On May 25, the kick-off mobilization meeting for the installation of conventional island (steam turbine generator plant) of unit 1 of phase I of the project was held in Huizhou City, Guangdong Province.

It is understood that the taipingling nuclear power project plans to build six "Hualong 1" units, a third-generation nuclear power technology with independent intellectual property rights in China. The construction of unit 1 and unit 2 of phase I project has been started on December 26, 2019 and October 15, 2020 respectively. Unit 1 is planned to be put into operation in 2025. The "hualong-1" nuclear power technology adopted in the project has the advantages of high safety, mature and reliable technology, strong industrial supporting capacity and good economy. At present, the equipment localization rate is nearly 90%, which is the mainstream technology in the global nuclear power field, showing a large-scale and quantitative development trend.
Yan Shaohua, deputy general manager of CGNPC Huizhou Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Huizhou nuclear power"), the owner of taipingling nuclear power project, said that since the commencement of the first phase of the project, Huizhou nuclear power has overcome various risks and challenges such as the COVID-19, all project builders have overcome difficulties, and the project construction has progressed steadily. On the basis of fully fulfilling the responsibilities of the industrial main nuclear safety and six control subjects, the phase I project actively explores and optimizes the project construction management system, and new models, new processes and new technologies continuously promote the project construction to make new breakthroughs. Taipingling nuclear power unit 1 innovated the use of intelligent nuclear power construction technologies such as 3D modeling, creating a record of the shortest construction period for "Hualong 1" unit to achieve dome hoisting in 24 months. At present, engineering design, equipment manufacturing, civil construction and installation are progressing steadily.
After the completion of six units of the project, the annual power generation will reach 50billion kwh.
