According to an investor report of the company, Sony expects that there will be more than 20 "large-scale games" when its Playstation VR2 head display is launched. Although it did not confirm the names or developers of all games, a slide confirmed that the list would be a combination of first and third-party games and hinted that it would include the previously announced horizon derivative: Horizon: the call of mountains.
Jim Ryan, President of Sony interactive entertainment, said in a comment on the video games Chronicle: "a lot of money has been spent on cooperation with independent and other third-party developers to ensure that there are a considerable number of attractive VR content channels when Playstation VR2 is launched.
Importantly, we still don't have the official release date of Sony's upcoming VR head display. The company has been slowly disclosing details in the past year and a half. The Playstation manufacturer announced in February 2021 that it was developing the head display and revealed the design of its handle in the next month. However, it was not until this year that the company officially announced the name, specification and design of the head display. Analysts estimate that the headset will be released next year.
It is unclear whether these more than 20 works include existing games such as "half life: alyx", which is the main PC based virtual reality version in 2020, but has not been released on Sony's game console.
Playstation VR2 will be Sony's second virtual reality head display after the release of the first Playstation VR in 2016. Different from the previous model, it is designed for PS4, and the purpose of the second generation product is to become the companion of ps5. It will be equipped with an OLED display with a single eye resolution of 2000x2040, support a frame rate of 120Hz, and can be connected to the game console with a usb-c cable.
