New York City demolished the last public telephone booth. Once upon a time, the telephone booth was the symbol of New York City. The popularity of mobile phones made the telephone booth gradually outdated. In 2014, New York City began to deal with public telephone booths. At that time, the government solicited proposals to find new alternatives. Later, New York City chose citybridge to develop and operate linknyc intelligent kiosk, which can provide free phone, Wi Fi and charging services. In 2015, New York City began to replace public telephone booths with linknyc.

"Just as we transition from horses and carriages to cars and from cars to planes, digital change also allows us to shift from pay phones to high-speed Wi Fi smart kiosks, which can meet our rapidly changing daily communication needs," New York City officials said in a statement
The last public telephone booth will be sent to the New York City Museum for exhibition.
