Musk announced on Friday that it would launch a satellite service in the Amazon region of Brazil, the Wall Street Journal reported. He said the plan is to allow schools in remote areas of the Amazon to have access to the Internet and help monitor illegal logging in the world's largest rainforest.
Musk said in a joint statement with Brazilian president bosonaro that he was ready to use his SpaceX Starlink satellite network to connect 19000 of the most remote schools to the Internet. Musk did not give more details about the project.
It is reported that musk has established Starlink services in more than 30 countries around the world. At present, musk plans to expand Starlink to most developing countries and regions in the next year.
Last November, the Brazilian government announced that it was discussing the secure Satellite Internet in Amazon with Musk's SpaceX. The Brazilian government said in a press release that SpaceX's Starlink technology could provide Internet access to indigenous communities, schools and medical centers. Negotiations between SpaceX and the government also include assistance in detecting illegal deforestation.
