Tesla CEO Elon Musk said on Tuesday that if he successfully acquired twitter, he would lift Twitter's ban on former US President trump. Musk said that it was "extremely stupid" for Twitter to ban Trump's account and that the social media should not have a permanent title. "Permanent titles should be extremely rare and really used in robot accounts, fraud accounts and spam accounts... I really don't think it's right to ban trump," Musk said.
"I will lift the permanent ban, which fundamentally undermines trust in twitter," Musk added. "I haven't fully owned twitter yet. So it's not certain to happen.".
It was previously reported that several Biden advisers disclosed that Biden government officials were closely watching Musk's acquisition of twitter. They were worried about whether musk would allow trump to return to the platform after acquiring twitter.
Trump responded that he would not return to twitter, but would use the self built social platform "truth social". "No, I won't use Twitter anymore. I hope musk will buy twitter because he will improve twitter, but I will use my voice platform 'truth social'," trump said.
At the end of last month, twitter confirmed that its board of directors accepted Musk's privatization proposal. According to the terms of the agreement, musk will buy twitter for $54.20 per share, a total of about $44 billion. After the transaction is completed, twitter will turn into a private holding company. The deal has yet to be approved by twitter shareholders and regulators.
Musk also said that the best case is to complete the twitter acquisition within 2 to 3 months.
