*Mintlify, a start-up that develops software automatic recording tasks, announced today that it raised $2.8 million * in the seed round financing led by Bain Capital Venture Capital, with the participation of Quinn slack, co-founder of twentytwo venture capital and sourcegraph. Chief executive Han Wang said that the proceeds will be used for product development and will double the core three person team of mintlify by the end of this year.
Mintlify, headquartered in Ithaca, New York, was co founded by Han Wang and hahnbee Lee in 2021. They are both software engineers. Han Wang previously co founded foodful, a start-up company developing a cloud based monitoring system for cows, and PE ple, an online customer community platform, which was acquired by triple in early 2021. Before briefly joining duolingo as an engineer, hahnbee Lee was the co-founder of be ple.
Mintlify's ideas come from their previous software development experience, which involves working with documents that are not always complete or of high quality. Their observations are consistent with a survey conducted by GitHub in 2017, which found that 93% of developers believe that incomplete or outdated documents are a common problem.
Han Wang and hahnbee Lee said that from start-ups to large technology companies, they are troubled by bad documents, which are the lifeline of junior engineers and engineers who jump into new code bases. It can help senior developers save time and explain their code to others in the future. For open source products for the public, documents have a direct impact on the adoption of users.
Mintlify aims to automate the challenges surrounding documents, especially the automatic generation of documents. The company's platform uses technologies including naturallanguageprocessing and network scraping to read code and create documents to interpret it. Wang declined to reveal more about the technical basis of mintlify, but it is entirely possible to generate documents from code in today's artificial intelligence technology.
Several of mintlify's competitors have adopted a similar approach, including documatic. In addition to generating documents, its artificial intelligence system also automatically generates update logs and explanations from the code.
