According to the communication manager of Activision Blizzard, Diablo: immortality will not be released in the Netherlands and Belgium because it contains unpacking. Diablo: immortality will be available on mobile phones and PCs on June 2 (beta beta). Previously, it could be pre registered in Apple stores and Google App Stores in the Netherlands and Belgium, but it was removed from the shelves a few days later.
When asked why, the Dutch media tweekers received a reply from Blizzard Communication Manager: "this is related to the current operating conditions in these countries.
On the reddit sub section, a blizzard employee gave a further explanation: "unfortunately, due to gambling restrictions, Belgian and Dutch players cannot install Diablo: immortality. The unpacking in the game violates local laws, so unless Blizzard modifies the gambling restrictions, the game will not be sold in the Netherlands and Belgium."
The employee then warned against trying to download games from app stores in other regions. He said: "it is illegal to download games in France and other countries. If you successfully run this game, I can't guarantee that you won't be banned."
In april2018, the Belgian games Commission recognized that unpacking (for example, the ultimate team model in FIFA games, including the use of real money to buy) constituted gambling. The Commission even recommended that criminal proceedings be instituted against companies that continue to sell such content in games.
As a result, the game was either removed from the box in Belgium or not sold there at all. For example, in 2019, EA announced that it would no longer sell FIFA points in Belgium.
