Microsoft Lowered Its Performance Forecast For The Fourth Quarter Of Fiscal Year 2022

On the evening of June 2, Beijing time, Microsoft announced today that its revenue in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2022 by the end of June is expected to reach US $51.94 billion to US $52.74 billion. In contrast, Microsoft had previously expected $52.4 billion to $53.2 billion. Meanwhile, Microsoft also slightly lowered its profit forecast for the fourth quarter.

Microsoft now expects that the adjusted earnings per share will reach $2.24 to $2.32 instead of $2.28 to $2.35 per share according to U.S. GAAP.

In contrast, the average expectation of Wall Street analysts is that revenue will reach $52.87 billion and earnings per share will reach $2.33. In the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2021, Microsoft's revenue was $46.152 billion, a year-on-year increase of 21%. The net profit was US $16.458 billion, a year-on-year increase of 47%.

Amy hood, chief financial officer (CFO) of Microsoft, said in April that adverse exchange rate changes may affect the company's performance guidance.

"Based on the market conditions in April, affected by the remeasurement of foreign exchange, we expect other income and expenditure to be -50million US dollars. Including other expectations, further changes in foreign exchange are not reflected in these figures," Hood said at that time
