Linus Torvalds has just released Linux 5.18 as the latest stable kernel version on time Linux 5.18 brings the controversial Intel software custom chip (SDSI, purchased in hardware to unlock the additional functions of the processor through payment), and continues the compatibility of DG2 / alchemist Intel independent graphics card, sapphire rapids, alder Lake N and dg2-g12 graphics card of the fourth generation Xeon server processor.
Linux 5.18 also optimizes the performance of AMD epyc, supports freesync video mode, Tesla full automatic driving (FSD) chip support, and more.
Torvalds in short V5 "There have been no unexpected problems in the past week, so we released 5.18 here as planned. This obviously means that the merge window of 5.19 will open tomorrow, and I have some pull requests waiting. Thank you. I still hope people will run the boring normal 5.18 version to check before we start getting excited about all the new features of the merge window," the announcement said
As Torvalds said, the Linux kernel is now entering the merge window of 5.19, and many new feature plans will appear in Linux 5.19.
