Now, A Korean Augmented Reality (AR) Startup Called Recon Labs Has Raised $4.4 Million To Shoot Short Videos Of Products Through Its Platform Plicar, Enabling E-commerce Customers To Create 3D Models In A Few Hours**

The Company Will Use Its Round A Financing To Increase The Number Of Employees And Strengthen Its Platform Plicar, Which Helps Automatically Turn Two-dimensional Images Into Three-dimensional Views Of Products Without Any Special Skills In Three-dimensional Modeling.

Seong Hoon Ban, CEO Of Recon Labs, Told Techcrunch That The Company Works With Some E-commerce Markets And Retailers, Including Furniture Companies, To Help Their Customers Visualize Products In Real-life 3D Models In Augmented Reality.

Ban Said The Company Currently Serves More Than 22 Small And Medium-sized Companies In South Korea And Is Discussing With Potential Customers In The Fields Of Fashion, Toys And Food. He Added That Retailers Could Save Time And Cost By Using Plicar Without Having To Build Their Own 3D Modeling Platform.

Recon Labs Claims That It Has More Than 10000 Products That Convert 2D To 3D Content. Ban Said That In The Future, The Platform Will Allow Users To Download, Upload, View, Sell And Buy 3D Assets Through Its Network Services, Just Like Sketchfab Acquired By Epic Games In 2021.

The Startup Also Recently Partnered With The Sandbox, A San Francisco Based Gaming Company, To Develop A Tool That Allows Users To Create 3D Characters And Items. Recon Labs Said It Plans To Launch A 3D Creator App Next Year. It Also Plans To Open An Office In Silicon Valley In The Fourth Quarter Of 2022 To Expand In The United States.

Previous Supporters Of Recon Labs, Including Kakao Ventures, Shinhan Capital, Lotte Ventures And Naver D2sf, Have Participated In The Latest Round Of Financing, Bringing Its Total Financing To $4.8 Million Since Its Establishment In 2019. New Investors Korea Investment Partners, Hanwha Techwin And Kakao Brain Also Joined This Round Of Financing.

"We Will Create A Service That Can Easily Create And Leverage 3D Content, Just As Anyone Can Create Image Or Video Content. Our Vision Is To Develop To Provide Any Type Of 3D Assets For AR And Metaverse Environments," Ban Said.
