Jane Horvath, Apple's privacy director, was listed as a speaker at the 2022 computer, privacy and Data Protection Conference in Brussels, Belgium. Apple is also a sponsor of the conference, which is scheduled to be held from May 23 to May 25.
It's unclear when Howard will speak or what topics she plans to discuss at the meeting, but Apple Has been advocating against the digital market bill proposed by the European Union, which will require apple to allow [iPhone] outside the app store( https://apple.pvxt.net/c/1251234/435400/7639?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.apple.com%2Fcn%2Fiphone%2F ) Side load the application on.
At past meetings, Apple executives, such as CEO Tim Cook and software engineering director Craig fedrigi, believed that sideloading would bring privacy and security risks.
Speaking at last year's computer, privacy and data protection conference, cook hinted that companies like Facebook that maximize participation through algorithms would lead to polarization and online violence.
"At a time when disinformation and conspiracy theories are rampant, we can no longer turn a blind eye to a technical theory that all participation is good participation - the longer the better - and is to collect as much data as possible," Cook said, adding that "now is not the time to pretend that this approach has no cost - polarization, loss of trust, and violence."
Howard joined apple in 2011 as senior director of global privacy and now serves as the company's Chief Privacy Officer. She has 20 years of information privacy and legal experience. Her previous roles include Google's global privacy adviser and the Chief Privacy adviser and civil liberties officer of the U.S. Department of justice.
