After last year's decision to carry out Google workspace training for staff, the Dutch government has officially signed an agreement with the technology giant to use this productivity tool in its public sector As part of the transaction, public institutions in the country can use a series of tools including chat instant messaging, docs documents, meet cloud video conferencing, sheets e-forms, etc.
In addition to making it easier for government employees to use relevant products and services, Google is also committed to improving citizens' digital service experience through mixed office.
Joris schoonis, regional head of the economic union of Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg of Google cloud, said:
By designing product solutions such as Google workspace for education, we are committed to protecting customers' data and privacy.
The relevant tools will give the Dutch public service the ability to do so while complying with strict security and privacy requirements.
At the same time, we look forward to providing greater choice flexibility for public entities, and have been providing support to educational institutions across the Netherlands, so that they can easily obtain innovative solutions, top-notch security features, and greater flexibility.
Although Google did not give the exact timetable when the Dutch government will start using the relevant workspace tools, we expect that the relevant work will be promoted from now on.
The Dutch government has been studying this solution for some time. Even as early as 2020, they have been reviewing whether Google workspace complies with the European general data protection regulations (gdpr).
Finally, according to the latest agreement between the two sides, Google said that the company would continue to carry out in-depth cooperation on the suggestions given by the government.
