Google today updated the Android version distribution pie chart, but there are still no details about the adoption rate of Android 12. According to the new distribution pie chart in 2022, the proportion of Android 11 has increased from 24.2% to 28.3%, which has become the largest Android version.
Given the popularity of Samsung devices and the company's efforts to ensure that medium - and low-end devices can also be upgraded, it is not surprising that Android 11 has achieved such results. Matching this, the share of devices still using Android 10 has shrunk to 23.9%, compared with 26.5% in November.
The lack of Android 12 statistics in this latest chart may be related to its intended purpose for Android developers. The chart in Android studio is not a guide to which Android APIs your application should target - the play store handles this issue through its minimum API requirements - but is designed to help developers decide which versions of Android should be supported.
