Last December, Linux 5.16 optimized the performance of ryzen 5000 APU (code named Cezanne and Lucienne) based on Zen 3. Although Ubuntu 22.04 LTS is based on Linux 5.15 kernel, the performance of AMD processor is also very good According to the latest measurement of Phoronix, compared with Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS, ryzen 4000 APU code named "Renoir" has excellent performance gain on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
The performance gain on AMD platform is also much higher than that on Intel's 10th generation comet Lake processor, which indicates that ryzen has finally made many long overdue optimizations.
In this test, Phoronix used several onlogic fanless edge embedded PCs. In Intel, onlogic helix 500 is equipped with core i7-10700t eight core sixteen thread (8C / 16t) 35W CPU. Meanwhile, in AMD, onlogic ml100g-41 is used, equipped with 8C / 16t ryzen 4800u and 15W APU.
The first is the integrated graphics processor (IGP) test. In terms of Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, AMD's performance gain is better than Intel comet Lake i7 SKU.
Next, we have some tests using CPU. Here, the performance improvement of 4800u on Ubuntu 22.04 lts system is also very obvious.
Overall, AMD ryzen 4800u Renoir APU has gained nearly 8.7% on Ubuntu 22.04. Meanwhile, the improvement of Intel comet Lake core i7-10700t is much smaller, only 0.7%.
