Last month, ASUS released a preview of Rog Strix sq7 nvme SSD on its social media account, following Gigabyte and MSI to enter the PC consumer SSD market. At that time, Asustek did not publish much information, only knowing that this product supported PCIe 4.0 X4 channel and m.2 2280 specification.
Recently, ASUS updated the official information and finally released the specific specifications of Rog Strix sq7 nvme SSD.
Rog Strix sq7 nvme SSD is a cluster electronic ps5018-e18 master controller manufactured by 12NM process. It is equipped with DDR4 cache and supports SLC cache and LDPC technology to achieve more stable data transmission and longer service life. This SSD also supports TCG opal specification, IEEE 1667 standard protocol and AES 256 bit disk and data encryption, which can improve the data security of SSD. Asustek also provides it with NTI backup now EZ software and Rog SSD dashboard software to provide complete data protection for SSDs and make it easy for users to manage SSDs.
Asustek said that the continuous read and write speeds of the Rog Strix sq7 nvme SSD reached 7000 mb/s and 6000 mb/s respectively, but it did not mention IOPs. In addition, Asus has not confirmed the flash memory core used in Rog Strix sq7 nvme SSD. It is speculated that it should be Meguiar's 176 layer TLC flash memory. At present, Rog Strix sq7 nvme SSD only provides 1TB capacity, and the warranty period is five years. ASUS also confirmed that the Rog Strix sq7 nvme SSD is not only suitable for PCs, but also compatible with Playstation 5.
For some, it seems a little insufficient to provide only 1TB capacity. Perhaps Asustek will provide a larger capacity version later. For the time being, it is not clear when the Rog Strix sq7 nvme SSD will be launched and the price. However, judging from ASUS' publicity, it should not be too long.
