Today, arkose labs released a report that provides many insights into what is happening in the world of cybercrime. One of the most striking is that many cybercriminals are adopting their strategies and selling them to so-called "rookies" as "fraud as a service" products on the dark Internet, and then they can earn more than $20000 a month.
Although this sounds a lot, these people actually earn more than $600000 a month.
All these attacks have brought losses to the enterprise. For example, some companies report that up to 35% of all network traffic they see is actually related to fraud. This is related to the use of attack robots. At present, 25% of the newly created accounts are actually fake. According to the report, robot traffic increased by 25% from the fourth quarter of 2021 to the first quarter of 2022.
Another interesting detail is that about 33% of conversations on social media and dating sites actually come from attackers. Scams are so rampant that many government entities have details on how to find them.
Gamers were not spared. It is reported that in the first quarter of 2022, there were 1.5 times more cyber attacks on game websites than in the previous quarter, and the registration of false accounts also increased by 86%. Attacks on gamers include spam, scanning and account takeover, so remember to enable multifactor authentication on your game account because they are valuable. As early as 2015, more than 77000 accounts were hacked every month, and this number may be increasing.
Some other highlights of the report:
20% of the attacks originated in North America and 40% in Asia;
In 2022, 90% of human attacks targeted communication channels in the fields of games, dating and technology;
97% of financial technology attacks are robot attacks;
Credential filling, phishing and a large number of false accounts are the main types of attacks.
