According to Appleinsider, apple is expanding its cork Park and building another office building to accommodate 1300 new employees at its European headquarters in Ireland** Apple has been operating in cork for more than 40 years and has a considerable Park in this Irish city. Now, Apple hopes to add another building and plans to build new offices there.
The plan has submitted planning permission to Cork City Council and will involve the construction of a four storey new structure with basement. According to RTE, the plan can be completed in mid-2025.
The building will use 100% renewable energy and use solar panels on all new structures, including walkways between buildings. It will also include a commuter center with bicycle and scooter storage, as well as electronic charging points. Staff transportation services and green public spaces in hollyhill park are also planned.
"We have been home to cork for more than 40 years. With the development of our team and the expansion of the park, we are happy to accelerate our investment here," said Cathy Kearney, vice president of European operations of apple. "We are proud to be part of the community here. Through this new project, we will continue to create new jobs, support local organizations and promote innovation on behalf of our customers."
Apple employs about 6000 people in cork Park and the whole city center, and the new office building will obviously be used by a mixture of existing and new employees. Although it is not known how many new employees Apple will employ when it is completed, the building will accommodate 1300 employees.
Apple's other businesses in downtown cork are expected to remain open, rather than close and move to the new building on the campus.
