According to the statistics of officials of the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRB) on Monday, the employees of the quality assurance department of Raven software, a subsidiary of Activision, joined the CWA with 19 votes in favor and 3 votes against. The trade union still needs to negotiate and reach an agreement with Activision. CWA said that if Microsoft successfully acquired Activision, the vote would not require re certification.

Activision objected to the vote. "We respect and believe that all employees have the right to decide whether to support or vote to form a union. We believe that an important decision that will affect the whole Raven software studio of about 350 people should not be made by 19 Raven employees." Activision said in a statement after the vote.

Microsoft plans to acquire Activision for $69 billion. The deal is expected to be completed in June 2023 and is awaiting regulatory approval. Labor experts said that if Microsoft's acquisition is successful, other departments within Activision that intend to follow Raven's example may face a stronger opponent. (author / Xiao Yu)
