XOS, an electric vehicle company focusing on commercial trucks, released two new cars on the evening of May 10 local time The company hopes to become a leading supplier and "operating system" for a battery powered fleet. It is reported that XOS expanded its product range on Tuesday local time and launched new heavy-duty tractor hdxt and medium-sized truck mdxt on the basis of its existing battery electric vehicle and power system.
XOS said the hdxt, built for regional transport fleets, can travel 230 miles on a single charge. As for the smaller mdxt, which can take the form of a box truck, refrigerator truck or flat car, according to XOS, it can travel 270 miles per charge. Although these range is far lower than the 500 miles promised by Tesla's long delayed semi, they still provide enough energy to cover most transportation.
In any case, XOS may never grab the focus like consumer centric Tesla and rivian, but the goal of the Los Angeles based company - to replace some of the most polluted vehicles on the road today - can be said to be equally attractive.
In addition to the new car, XOS also announced a software platform called xosphere, which the company said was designed to reduce the operating costs of the electric fleet. "Now we can charge scheduling, charge management and vehicle charging, all from the same platform where you are working on service tickets, telematics and driver monitoring, safety monitoring and driver awareness," Semler said
XOS told techcrunch that at present, they have dozens of XOS cars running on the road, of which 56 will be delivered in the first quarter of 2022.
