In the same month, Guangdong Province reported the sampling inspection of master's degree theses in the province last year.
Of the 1340 papers submitted for approval, 7 were identified as "problematic degree papers", involving universities such as Jinan University, South China University of technology, South China Normal University, etc.
Shaanxi Province also recently announced that it had completed the sampling inspection of master's thesis in 2021, but the specific results have not been made public.
So, what consequences will there be if there is a problem with the dissertation?
It has an impact on the corresponding students, instructors, majors and schools.
First, let's look at students .
For graduation theses suspected of plagiarism, plagiarism, forgery, tampering, trading, ghosting and other academic misconduct , the school will revoke the degree after verification.
The treatment methods of "existing problems" dissertations will be different in different schools, but basically they all take rectification within a time limit (mainly for masters and doctors).

In 2014, the measures for sampling inspection of doctoral and master's dissertations were officially issued.
Since then, the sampling inspection of master's and doctoral dissertations will be conducted once a year , and the sampling inspection scope is the dissertations awarded in the previous academic year.
Among them, the sampling proportion of doctoral dissertations is about 10% and that of master's dissertations is about 5% *.
Specific to different colleges and universities, the proportion may further expand.

Compared with the sampling inspection of undergraduate and master's theses, the sampling inspection of doctoral theses is more complex. If the scientificity is not well guaranteed, "one size fits all" may lead to the problem of "manslaughter".
