Due to the global shortage of semiconductor supply, foundry giant TSM. Us is considering establishing a chip manufacturing plant in Singapore. A person familiar with the matter said that the plan was still under discussion and no final decision had been made. However, the company added that the Singapore government might help with the construction of the plant and that it was in discussions with the Singapore Economic Development Authority.

According to media reports, TSMC is considering producing 7-28 nm chips in this new factory, which is the previous generation of chip manufacturing process of TSMC. The products are mainly used in cars, smart phones and other consumer electronics.
At Apple's earnings conference call, CEO cook pointed out that the global chip shortage is largely related to "traditional process nodes" or chips with lower process level.
