On June 1, FY-3 e, FY-4 B and their ground application systems were put into business trial operation, and began to provide observation data and application services to users around the world As members of the global observation business series, they will effectively support "global monitoring, global forecasting and global services", play an important role in serving the construction of the "the Belt and Road", and further enhance the comprehensive observation capacity and application service capacity of China's meteorological satellites.
The FengYun-3 e satellite, known as the "Li star", was successfully launched on July 5, 2021. It is the world's first civil dawn dusk orbit operational satellite. It carries 11 payloads, including 3 newly developed instruments, and fills the gap in satellite data observation of the global numerical weather prediction model during the dawn dusk period. After the operational operation, the satellite will form a three-star network with FengYun-3 C and D satellites, providing a complete global coverage of observation data for the numerical prediction model every 6 hours, effectively improving the accuracy and timeliness of global numerical weather prediction, which is of great significance to improving the global earth observation system.
Fy-4b was successfully launched on June 3, 2021. It is the first operational satellite of China's new generation geostationary orbit meteorological satellite. On the basis of inheriting the mature technology of fy-4b-a test satellite, it has been optimized in design, fully exploited the satellite platform and payload capacity, improved the overall reliability, stability and detection accuracy of the satellite, and added a fast imager, which has the regional imaging capability of minute resolution of 250 meters. After the operational operation of the satellite, it will realize dual satellite networking with fengyun-4 a satellite to further meet the service needs of China and the countries and regions along the "the Belt and Road" for meteorological monitoring and forecasting, emergency disaster prevention and mitigation.
In accordance with the principle of "testing, application and service at the same time", the China Meteorological Administration has previously carried out in orbit testing of two satellites to promote business operation as soon as possible. FengYun-3 e satellite has successively released three batches of observation products, including "Li Xing looks at the sun", "Li Xing looks at the atmosphere" and "Li Xing looks at the earth", which have played an important role in the "La Nina" event, the melting of polar glaciers, the solar eruption and typhoon monitoring.
Fengyun-4b satellite also carried out data application in advance, using high spatial-temporal resolution images, snow and other quantitative products to provide support and guarantee for the Winter Olympic meteorological services, and played a role in the service guarantee for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the 14th National Games and other major activities, as well as the monitoring of Tonga volcano eruption and other international hot events. In May this year, the two "new stars" successfully completed their in orbit tests, and the ground system fully met or exceeded the design indicators, and was ready for commissioning.
Up to now, China has successfully launched two generations of 4-type 19 FY meteorological satellites, of which 7 are in orbit. As an important part of the WMO global operational application meteorological satellite sequence and the duty satellite of the international charter mechanism for major disasters, China is continuously providing data products and services to 123 countries and regions around the world.
