The maximum speed of Tesla vision's automatic driving has been increased to 85mph (about 137km / h). On May 15 local time, Elon Musk confirmed that Tesla will improve the speed of autopilot Tesla began to deliver model 3 and model y vehicles equipped with Tesla vision in May 2021.
It is reported that vision is a camera based auto drive system, which completely relies on the camera and neural network processing to run autopilot, Tesla full automatic driving (FSD) and other active safety functions.
When Tesla announced the transition to vision, it also said that some functions such as autosteer would be temporarily limited or would not be activated. In January this year, autosteer's maximum speed was limited to 80mph. Musk shared that the maximum speed of autopilot will be updated in OTA 10.12.
Autosteer's maximum speed increase implies that Tesla has become more confident in its camera based system. At the all in summit Technology Conference in Miami, musk pointed out that Tesla plans to expand its fully automatic driving pool.
At present, 100000 drivers have participated in the FSD test project. Tesla is considering expanding the program to 1 million beta testers by the end of 2022.
"There are about 100000 people participating in the beta, so it's not small. We'll expand it to -- I don't know -- maybe 1 million people by the end of the year, that's the order," Musk said at the technology conference
