Immersion, a tactile technology development company, filed a lawsuit against meta, the parent company of Facebook, accusing the latter of creating an industry-leading virtual reality (VR) headset by infringing its patent. Immersion said in an indictment filed in Waco federal court in Texas on Thursday that the dominant market meta Quest 2 infringed six patents related to tactile technology.

In the video game system and controller, tactile allows users to experience the vibration of forces simulating real life, such as blocking a punch in a virtual boxing game.
The sales volume of meta Quest 2 reached 8.7 million units in 2021, twice that of the previous year, accounting for 80% of the market share. Meta CEO markzuckerberg promised to invest $10billion a year to realize his vision of the meta universe supported by VR.
Immersion is seeking a court order to prevent meta from using the infringing technology and seek an unknown amount of compensation. Meta has not commented. (author / Xiao Yu)
