Data released by the European Association of automobile manufacturers (ACEA) on Wednesday showed that the continuous supply chain pressure led to a sharp decline in new car registrations in the EU in April. The number of new car registrations in the EU in April fell 21% year-on-year to 684506. According to ACEA, this was the lowest trading volume in April since records began, except for April 2020 after the outbreak of the COVID-19.

"Supply chain problems continue to seriously affect car production," the association said

All major markets saw the biggest drop of 33% in ACEA.

Similarly, the association's data show that sales of almost all major carmakers fell in the month, with stellantis falling the most, down 32% year-on-year.

In the first four months of this year, new car registrations in the EU fell by a total of 14%, according to ACEA.
