SpaceX's Starlink Satellite Internet service has achieved another amazing download test result in the United States Starlink is a small satellite Internet constellation in low earth orbit designed to provide global Internet coverage. The results of several speed tests have confirmed that Starlink has exceeded the average download speed of most countries it operates in the world.
Today's results show that the service has achieved a download speed of 301 Mbps, making it one of the fastest test results since it was launched. However, the delay continues to provide more room for improvement, and the upload speed is far from the strong download test results.
Starlink users in rural Wisconsin reported that no other users in his area were grabbing bandwidth, so downloads were particularly fast.
The network speed test results were shared by a user on the social media platform reddit. Reddit user dull kn1fe uploaded the scores earlier today and claimed he tested them in the early morning. The final results show that his Starlink connection can provide an amazing download speed of 301 Mbps. Dull kn1fe's subsequent comments showed that he lived in rural Wisconsin, in the northeast of the continental United States. This speed is also significantly higher than the average download speed of American Starlink listed by the popular Internet speed testing service ookla. However, while the download speed in rural Wisconsin is impressive, the upload speed and delay, that is, the time when packets come out and return from users, need to be improved. The test shows that dullkn1fe can achieve an upload speed of 20.5mbps and a delay of 78 milliseconds (MS).
A study conducted by ookla for the Starlink speed test in the fourth quarter of last year is more sobering because it shows that the median download speed in the United States is 105 Mbps. Ookla also pointed out that the fastest median download speed realized by Starlink Internet service is in Miami IDA County, Florida, with a median speed of 191mbps. The slowest was Columbia County, Oregon, with a result of 64.95 Mbps. In statistics and data analysis, the median is the middle value, which eliminates the influence of extreme values on the data set.
The data also showed that compared with the previous quarter, the range between the highest and lowest download speeds in the fourth quarter increased by 30 Mbps or 30% compared with 100 Mbps in the third quarter. However, in the same quarter, the median download speed of star link increased by 10%.
