Infiltration, a South Korean fighting game player, recently revealed that he had been rejected by many large game competitions, including this year's Evo conference. The screenshot posted by Li Shanyu on twitter shows that Evo and combo breaker will successively notify him by email that he is not allowed to participate in the competition. Both emails said he had violated the code of conduct of the games and would refund his registration fee.
In an interview with the media, Rick thiher, general manager of Evo, explained that the competition "is committed to creating a safe environment for all players and fans", and the organizers need the contestants and participants to "work together to create a community environment of mutual respect and respect". He said that this expectation was also recognized by other games, such as combo breaker, community effort Orlando, east coast down and intercontinental fight club. Therefore, Li Shanyu will be rejected from all these games.
Thiher added: "Evo will not openly talk about the adjudication of contestants, but will take the necessary measures to maintain our system and create a comfortable environment for Evo contestants. This is very important for the future of Evo and the experience we strive to create for all community members."
Li Shanyu said: "I hope to have equal opportunities for dialogue. I hope the organizing committee can clearly explain the reasons for refusing me to participate. In addition, I ask these organizing committees to publicly apologize to me because their decision disrupted my overseas trip plan and caused my economic losses and psychological trauma."
Li Shanyu once won the third place of "Street Fighter 4: arcade version" at the 2010 Evo conference, which attracted a lot of popularity, and then became active in many fighting game projects. But in 2018, Li Shanyu made headlines because of domestic violence against his ex-wife and was abandoned by the sponsor. Subsequently, Li Shanyu voluntarily launched the official kapukong Street bully competition for one year.
In 2019, Li Shanyu returned to the evo conference and won the project of "soul waiting: Dawn". However, Evo was still a private activity at that time, but now it has been acquired by Sony. Joey Cuellar, co-founder and CEO, left because of sexual harassment.
And Li Shanyu didn't stop after that. For example, last year, it was reported that he was suspected of fraud when organizing the entry-level event of "Street Fighter 5" in South Korea's Live Broadcasting website afreecatv, which was his biggest sponsor last year.
The screenshot shows that the champion who won the event is actually a high-level player, but deliberately dropped the segment and joined the event to fry fish at the instigation of Li Shanyu. After the inside story was exposed, Li Shanyu, who became angry with shame, wildly blew the whistle on twitter with all kinds of dirty words.
Li Shanyu finally made a public apology, but also lost afreecatv's sponsorship.
Li Shanyu, who switched to twitch, touched the red line of political correctness in the West. When fighting black fighting players, he spit out classic racist terms and was banned by the platform for seven days.
Therefore, the reason why Evo and other games reject it now seems not so difficult to understand.
