The space launch system (SLS) rocket and Orion spacecraft are scheduled to return to launch pad 39B at Kennedy Space Center in Florida on June 6 to prepare for the next wet rehearsal attempt before the Artemis I mission At present, the first activity is scheduled for 12:01 a.m. on June 6, and the fuel tank operation will start no earlier than June 19.

The rehearsal is the last test before launch. It requires NASA to load propellant into the rocket's fuel tank, conduct a comprehensive launch countdown, demonstrate the ability to recover the countdown clock, and empty the fuel tank to practice the schedule and procedures used during launch.

In the launch vehicle assembly building (VAB), the teams have completed several major objectives including assessing liquid hydrogen system leakage at the umbilical of the tail service mast, replacing the check valve and support hardware of the temporary cryogenic propulsion stage (ICPs) gas helium system, and modifying the ICPs umbilical cleaning shoes. Adding a hazardous gas detector above the upper level will give more visibility to any potential leakage during low temperature operation.

The doors or entrances to the crew compartment and the launch abort system are now closed and ready for ejection. Engineers installed rain gutters in the crew passage to help prevent moisture from entering the crew compartment when spacecraft and rockets are on the launch pad. The team has begun to reclaim the service platforms of the lunar orbiting rockets and spacecraft for launch configuration before they return to the launch pad.

NASA will provide live broadcast of the launch of SLS rocket and Orion spacecraft from VAB and arrival at launch pad 39B.
