Luhut binsar pandjaitan, Minister of maritime and investment coordination of Indonesia, said that Tesla's potential battery plant in Indonesia may be built in one of the country's very important comprehensive industrial zones. According to the minister, an industrial zone in Indonesia's northern kaltara province will occupy 30000 hectares, which will be a good place for musk to establish a dedicated battery factory.
The official pointed out that the region has the potential to generate 10000 megawatts of hydropower, 10000 megawatts of solar panel power and 2.9 TCF of natural gas.
Luhut said that when talking with musk, "Elon, if you want to get end-to-end, green battery products and green car products, this is where you want to go".
Kaltara is expected to be one of the largest industrial development projects in the world, covering an area of 8.30000 square miles. Tesla's battery factory, which aims to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy, may be regarded as one of the flagship projects of Indonesia's kaltara industrial park if it does.
According to a report by Suara, the construction of kaltara Industrial Park began in December 2021, although the official said that the project itself began about five or six years ago. "This is groundbreaking. I started this project five or six years ago. I reviewed it. Now we will have the largest petrochemical products in the world. The total cost of the whole project is 132 billion US dollars.".
