A supplier providing wire harness products to Tesla confirmed to the first financial reporter that the factory found positive infected people on May 8. At present, the production is silent. Tesla has not confirmed to the first financial reporter whether the Shanghai Super factory is affected by this. On May 10, it was reported that the production of Tesla Shanghai Lingang super factory was suspended due to supply problems.
The first financial reporter learned about the situation from Tesla and relevant suppliers. A supplier providing wire harness and other products to Tesla confirmed to the first financial reporter that the company's wire harness factory in Shanghai found positive infected persons on May 8, and the production is currently silent; Tesla has not confirmed to the first financial reporter whether the Shanghai Super factory is affected by this shutdown.
The factory that supplies wiring harness products to Tesla is a factory of anbofu, an automobile supply chain enterprise, in Jiading. The enterprise told the first financial reporter that since the positive infection was found on May 8, the positive infected persons and their close contacts have been transferred, and the remaining personnel have completed two rounds of nucleic acid. At present, the results are negative, and the environment is also negative. They are waiting for the government's evaluation and instructions. Before that, the production was in "Silence".
However, anbofu denied suspending the supply of harness products to Tesla. "We are always working with customers and the government." A company spokesman told China business news.
In response to the first financial reporter on whether production has been suspended, Tesla did not confirm. "Relevant information will be released as soon as possible." Tesla related people told the first financial reporter.
At present, the automobile industry chain is struggling to resume production. On May 7, Wu Qiang, deputy head of Shanghai Pudong New Area, introduced at the Shanghai epidemic prevention and control press conference that since Tesla resumed work and production on April 19, 10000 vehicles had been offline as of April 30. Tesla had expected that around mid May, the production capacity is expected to return to the pre epidemic level.
On the same day, the relevant person in charge of anbofu told the first financial reporter that anbofu's factories in Shanghai, including connectors and harness products, have resumed production. However, due to shortage of manpower and other reasons, the production capacity level is currently maintained at 50% to 60% of the normal level.
Tao Lin, global vice president of Tesla, responded to the first financial reporter: "automobile is an industry with a very long industrial chain. If Tesla wants to resume work, it means that many suppliers have to resume work, so as to ensure the stable and sustainable production of Tesla."
Shanghai governments at all levels are making every effort to assist enterprises to resume work and production while strictly abiding by the epidemic prevention policy. A Tesla source told the first financial reporter that the government sent special personnel to live in the office to assist in relevant work, so as to ensure that Tesla's production returns to normal as soon as possible.
Anbofu also disclosed to the first financial reporter that during the closed-loop management period of the factory, the government gave strong support, such as helping to formulate the early closed-loop management plan, prepare materials and provide guidance for safety and epidemic prevention. Now, Anting town also regularly distributes food and other materials to the factory and makes door-to-door arrangements according to unified arrangements.
