At ISE 2022 held in Barcelona, Spain, Samsung demonstrated its latest generation of microled display technology products. The first is 2022 the wall TV / display (IWB), which achieves the world's top 0.63 pixel spacing. In terms of screen parameters, up to 2000 nit brightness, up to 120Hz refresh rate, hdr10 / 10 +, up to 4K 110 inches or 8K 220 inches .
The built-in micro AI processor can control 20bit color depth. With muti view, it can process four dynamic signal sources on the same screen, which is very suitable for commercial use.
In addition to IWB, there are IAB and the wall integrated screen, which provide 4K 146 inch, 2K 146 inch and 2K 110 inch options, 16:9 ratio, embedded thickness of 59mm, integrated S-box media playback module and support splicing.
It is understood that microled is a technology that Samsung is committed to replacing OLED, but it is only available for commercial use at present because of its high cost.
Compared with LCD and OLED displays, microled screens have several advantages, including thinner and more energy-saving. For example, the power consumption of microled screen is only one tenth that of LCD display, and the color saturation is close to OLED.
As a display technology, microled, like OLED, emits light from a single light-emitting unit, and eliminates the backlight and color filter used in traditional displays by using micron sized LED lamps, which has the best display effect in similar products.
According to playnitride, which previously developed microled technology, the cost of micro LED display panel is expected to decrease significantly in 2025.
