Risc-v international has more than 20 senior members with a membership fee of US $250000. One of the interesting names is Intel, the king of X86 processors today. In addition, there are Alibaba cloud, Google, Huawei, Ziguang zhanrui, ZTE and other names we are familiar with.
However, attending the meeting does not mean that Intel also has the idea of taking off its x86 "rice bowl" with risc-v. Redmond's view is that Intel is vigorously developing its wafer business and makes it clear that it can OEM x86, arm, risc-v and other chips for other companies. Obviously, from this perspective, Intel has more penetration into risc-v, which has no harm at all.
According to Redmond's expectations, she believes that risc-v can achieve arm's 20-year achievements in the next five years. Although it seems to be a tone to replace competitive products, Ms. Redmond stressed that x86 / arm will not be outdated. Future it practitioners will use three sets of architectures to find the best position in different scenarios.
