28 employees of Activision Blizzard's studio Raven software won the vote to form a union. Employees from the call of Duty: Theater studio established the game workers alliance in January and announced their intention to become a formal union. Last month, the National Labour Relations Commission (NLRB) voted.
According to the Washington Post, it was passed by 19 votes in favor and 3 votes against last night. Before the election results are officially announced, both sides must raise objections before May 31.
One of the people who voted for Raven's quality assurance studio. "Now that the struggle for recognition is over, we can focus on negotiations. We will fight for respect, for better wages, benefits, better work life balance, for sustainable development and job security, and continue to fight for our colleagues in unity," she said of the results
Activision Blizzard spokesman Jessica Taylor also made her statement to the Washington Post. "We respect and believe that all employees have the right to decide whether to support or vote for the union. However, we believe that important decisions affecting the whole Raven studio (about 350 people) should not be made by 19 Raven employees. We are committed to providing the best service to the studio and employees."
