Although the Xiaolong X70 flagship modem released earlier this year has not been applied in any new mobile phones, Qualcomm introduced a series of new features and functions at the annual 5g summit held in San Diego BGR pointed out: referring to the naming habits of the company, Xiaolong X70 may become the best partner of the next generation Xiaolong 8 Gen 2 chipset. If all goes well, the SOC is expected to be officially released by the end of 2022.

Earlier, Qualcomm has revealed that the new generation SOC will support advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and ultra fast millimeter wave (mmwave) features. But at the latest annual 5g summit, we also learned more new features.
The first is "smart transmission 3.0": Qualcomm smart transmission 3.0 aims to manage all wireless connections of user devices in an efficient, fast and super intelligent way.
The old smart transmit has been able to intelligently manage the cellular network connection of the modem, but the 3.0 has also been upgraded to include Bluetooth and Wi Fi connection.
This means that the modem can collect all the wireless connection information available to the device, so that it can better select the best network connection.
Technically, smart transmit 3.0 can balance the transmission performance of various cellular connections in real time (including 2G / 3G / 4G / 5G, Wi Fi and Bluetooth).
This will help the modem to be optimally optimized for a specific environment, improving overall reliability while enabling faster connections.
The second is 5g millimeter wave. Although it is well known for its ultra-high transmission rate, due to the network laying of operators and the real environment, the current equipment must switch to mmwave on the basis of 5g frequency band below 6 GHz.
The good news is that with Xiaolong X70 With the advent of modems, this situation has changed. It can connect to an independent millimeter wave network and provide transmission rates of up to 8.3 Gbps.
For operators, this will enable them to deploy 5g networks more flexibly. For example, millimeter wave base stations are set in stadiums and other high-density areas without being dragged down by 5g frequency band below 6 GHz.
In fact, operators in many parts of the world have basically deployed 5g networks below 6 GHz in major regions. Through the carrier aggregation of three frequency bands, Xiaolong X70 baseband can bring a more high-speed and smooth connection experience for mobile devices.
Finally, Qualcomm said It is providing potential customers with samples of Xiaolong X70 modem, and we are expected to see the first flagship mobile device by the end of 2022 at the earliest. However, over time, manufacturers will gradually lower it to more affordable product lines.
