French designer Maxime augay in kickstarter Crowdfunding was launched for the airhood project on the platform. This is a portable range hood that can be placed on a stool to effectively extract the range hood from the air. The early bird price of the project is $99. It is planned to raise $20000. So far, it has successfully raised $306581. There are 2523 supporters. There are 10 days before the end of the project.
Although in modern kitchens, the range hood was considered at the beginning of design, it is a major task to install a range hood that may not be designed for cooking in old houses or existing buildings. Poor ventilation during cooking will trigger a smoke alarm, which will keep the smell lingering, causing grease to accumulate on the surface. Worst of all, it will lead to various potential health problems.
Augay designed airhood to deal with this problem. The device is similar to a 22 cm (13.1 inch) high fashionable speaker, which can be placed next to the gas stove / induction cooker, and its powerful fan will suck away the smoke before it drifts too far. Smoke first passes through an oil filter to capture grease, and then through an activated carbon filter to remove particles. The filtered air is blown out through the rear diffuser.
The team said that the oil filter can be easily cleaned by hand or dishwasher, while the charcoal filter can be replaced, each apparently lasting 120 hours of cooking time. The air purifier has three fan speed settings, one handle is easy to carry, and wired or wireless mode can be selected. An optional extension foot can also raise the device by 5 cm (2 inches), so that it can suck oil smoke from the side of a larger pan, frying pan or pressure cooker.
