U-boat Worx, a Dutch submarine company, announced a huge underwater entertainment platform (uwep), which can accommodate up to 120 guests in addition to the crew and catering staff With 150 square meters (1615 square feet), uwep is conceived as a suitable entertainment space that can be set up as an underwater restaurant, casino, wedding place, illuminated conference room or anything you want.
In fact, it is probably the most spacious submarine design we have ever seen. It is 35.1 meters (115 feet) long, 7.7 meters (25 feet) wide and 7 meters (23 feet) high. It has 14 huge acrylic windows with a diameter of 4.5 meters (14.8 feet), which can be seen. There is high-intensity lighting outside, so that everyone can clearly see the situation outside.
This thing is so huge that the front and rear parts are divided into two layers - the upper part is a stage like area for additional seats, the lower part hides the crew's cabin in the front, and behind it is a catering kitchen and five bathrooms. If the seats on the floor are not enough to make your big people feel special enough, the bar can be equipped with a VIP lounge on it, so that they can get the exclusive treatment they are used to.
Uwep's steel pressure hull allows it to dive 200 meters (650 feet) below the water surface, which is not a huge depth in the plan of things, but it is deep enough to make people really feel that you are no longer in Kansas. This is a fully electric submarine with four 80 kW (107 HP) horizontal thrusters and four 40 kW (54 HP) vertical thrusters to assist the ballast and buoyancy system. The top speed is very leisurely 3 knots (3.5 mph / 5.6 km / h) on the water and 2.5 knots (2.9 mph / 4.6 km / h) under the water, so we don't recommend using it as an escape tool.
Interestingly, U-boat Worx will use "high-capacity lead-acid" batteries as a huge 1.2 megawatt hour under floor battery pack. The company says this is enough to cover up to 18 hours of travel, or several shorter trips between charges - if things go wrong, a separate emergency battery will keep critical systems online for 96 hours.
